This art work is inspired by the poem ‘Warning’ by Jenny Joseph. This is a poem about imagining what it will be like to be old, and it infers that older age should be a time for fun and indulgence. Written in 1961, it includes the line about wearing purple with a red hat.
Pearls, dandelion fairies and the purple perm, references of an older lady, but the face is young: as long as I dont look at my self in the mirror, I still feel young.
